Steven Torrie QFSM
We are proud to announce that Steven Torrie QFSM, lately HM Chief Inspector, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, has been made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to fire and rescue in Scotland, and offer him our warmest congratulations.

Steven joined Lothian and Borders Fire Brigade in 1975, working his way up the ranks in various fire stations. He became Chief of Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Services 2006 – 2010, before being appointed HM Chief Inspector. He was awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) for distinguished Service in the 2005 New Years Honours list.

With his wife Libby, Steven was one of Cadenza’s founder members in 1992. Even after moving to Falkirk on his appointment as Chief of Central Scotland Fire & Rescue Service, they remained committed choir members until their retirement last year – when they joined Friends of Cadenza and can still be seen at our concerts, but in the audience rather than as singers!
