Meet our 2016 Fringe soloist
Cadenza is delighted to welcome Richard Beauchamp as our Guest at the 2016 Fringe concert. He will accompany the choir for the two works by Schubert, and feature as soloist in Beethoven’s sparkling ‘Choral Fantasy’.
Richard began his long and distinguished career in New Zealand, where he studied with former Godowsky pupil Ernest Empson. Prior to continuing his studies with Kendall Taylor and Peter Wallfisch at the Royal College of Music in London, he was a soloist with the NZ Symphony Orchestra and other NZ orchestras, as well as an established recitalist. He joined the staff of St Mary’s Music School in 1977 where, until his semi retirement in 2014, he was Head of Keyboard and for many years Director of Chamber Music.
His performing schedule has included chamber music, duo recitals, solo recitals and many concertos as well as premières of contemporary music both here and abroad. He is a visiting examiner and adjudicator and his lifelong interest in biomechanics and ergonomics in relation to piano playing and musicians’ health has led to lectures at conferences organised by the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine, the Royal Northern College of Music and the European Piano Teachers’ Association.
More information can be found on Richard’s website.
