Tickets still available for 24th August concert

You can still buy tickets for our 19th Edinburgh Festival Fringe Concert on Saturday 24th August – a concert with a great programme and a superb line-up soloists – but don’t leave it too late!

For Fringe 2013 we are offering three pieces from quite different periods, all in their composers’ original version for choir and organ. Dvorak wrote very little sacred music and only the one Mass, which we are performing – a little gem, uplifting, joyful, exuberant and moving. We celebrate Britten 100 with his Rejoice in the Lamb, set to a poem written in a lunatic asylum in the 1700s. Strange words, powerful imagery, and music which is both exhilerating and haunting. Intrigued? Come and hear it for yourself! And last, but by no means least, John Rutter‘s Gloria. Forget his Christmas carols – this is Rutter with his hair down. With full brass, timpani and percussion supporting the organ, this promises more ‘bangs for your buck’ than anyting else in the Fringe. Exciting stuff!

Our soloists are all young professionals, graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School, with between them a most impressive clutch or awards and performances all over the UK and Europe, including the Proms and Glyndebourne. One sings regularly with the Dunedin Consort, two have been Britten-Pears Young Artists (one 3 times), and one a Scottish Opera Emerging Artist.

With our handpicked brass and percussion ensemble alongside the splendid Morley Whitehead, winner of numerous prizes and lynchpin of Edinburgh musical society, this is a concert not to be missed!

Ticket details on our concerts page, but don’t delay! We have enjoyed capacity audiences for many years now, with some being completely sold out, and we anticipate increased interest this year following our 4* review for Fringe 2012, not to mention the critical acclaim, and 3 broadcasts on Classic FM and BBC Radio3, following the launch of our new CD in the Autumn.
