BRAVO!

We haven’t managed to locate a review yet this year, but this lack was more than compensated for by the wonderful audience response at the end of our 2013 Fringe concert – ‘Bravo!’, cheers, whistles, and even a mini standing ovation. Every participant in the performance received praise – choir, soloists, organist, our brass and percussion ensemble, and of course our Musical Director, Jenny Sumerling, who “gave her all” when conducting.

Audience comments reported since the concert have included:

“…the best Cadenza concert I’ve heard…” (from a long-standing Cadenza concert-goer)
“The best thing we’ve attended in the festival.”
“…very much enjoyed the concert and very impressed with how lively it was, how focussed everyone was, how much work you’d all done, and how everyone was enjoying themselves as well, which was delightful.”
“…the choir’s diction was excellent!”
“…the best organ playing I’ve heard anywhere – normally I positively dislike organ. Wonderful!!”

Our audience also seem to have very much enjoyed the individual items on the programme too.

“I really enjoyed [the concert], particularly the Dvorak. I didn’t expect to like the Britten, but your choir makes such a lovely coherent sound that I did!”

One member of the audience was seen to have been moved to tears by the Dvorak, while another who had enjoyed the concert immensely, was desperate to know if we were singing again in the festival and very disappointed that we were not! And there was much praise too for the Rutter, with its exhilerating brass and percussion, provided a thrilling end to a wonderful evening.
