Fantastic standard of performance!
That was John Brunning’s verdict after playing Ding Dong! Merrily on High on today’s Classic FM Drive.
If you missed it, you can listen again when it’s uploaded to the Classic FM website after the show. We featured at 18.26. You’ll also find us on the Classic FM playlist, though there’s no link to listen again from there.
You can of course also listen to previews and download this and any of the other tracks from Bright Star, or buy the CD if you don’t already have a copy, on our CD page. Great Christmas presents!

We made the final five!
Hot off the press, we are delighted to confirm that Cadenza was selected as one for the final five Making Music groups to be broadcast on Classic FM Drive on Monday 7th December at around 6.20pm.
We are also flying the flag for Scotland, being the only Scottish choir chosen – the other four being from Sheffield, Reading, London and Sutton Coldfield. Entirely appropriate of course, as the track to be broadcast is from our 2012 Christmas CD Bright Star, a unique collection contemporary carols, almost all of which have a Scottish connection.
May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a good New Year!

Cadenza shortlisted for Christmas broadcast on Classic FM
Classic FM is once again joining forces with Making Music to offer amateur music ensembles around the country the opportunity to have one of their recordings broadcast on Classic FM Drive during the week beginning 7th December.
All Making Music member groups (singers and instrumentalists) were eligible to apply, and with only 1 track to be played each day (5 in total), and 170,000 music makers in the member groups, the competition has been intense!
We are delighted that Cadenza has made it to the shortlist. This doesn’t guarantee inclusion in the final 5 of course, but we have chosen a lively and different new arrangement of a well known carol as our entry, so keep your fingers crossed and watch this space!

Listen again at Morning on 3 about 20 minutes into the programme.
You can of course listen to the whole of what was an very enjoyable, seasonal programme – just don’t forget to listen out for us!

A very impressive concert overall simply blew my boots off!
…and still the plaudits are coming in.
“Very much a concert of two halves. First up, pieces from Tippett and Vaughan Williams that fitted comfortably into the Cadenza sweet spot. But then? A genuine “Fringe surprise moment” with a wondrous Scottish première of Will Todd’s Mass in Blue.”
Another review, this time awarding us Highly recommended show status.
Book your tickets for Fringe 2016 now! After two excellent reviews and our full house again this year, you might need to…

4* Fringe review again!
A full house, fabulous accompanists and soloists, including the ones from the choir itself, an audience who were with us all the way (cheers and whistles at the end and rapturous applause continuing well after we had left the stage. And now a 4* review.
What more could Cadenza ask of its 2015 Fringe Concert? Everyone gave their all and were rewarded – congratulations all round!

Cadenza on Radio 4 – Palm Sunday
Cadenza has been invited to take part in this year’s Palm Sunday morning service on Radio 4. The service will be broadcast from Edinburgh’s Greyfriars Kirk – a familiar venue for the choir, having performed there during the Fringe for many years. As well as joining in the Palm Sunday hymns, the choir will perform three anthems, including the lovely Sanctus & Benedictus from Macmillan’s ‘St Anne Mass’ and Chilcott’s God so loved the World.
Tune into Radio 4, Sunday 29th March at 8.10am to hear the full service – or if that’s too early for you and you miss it, there’s always the i-Player.

Introducing our Interim Musical Director
Earlier in 2014, Cadenza launched a search for an Interim Musical Director to cover our Musical Director’s 12-month Leave of Absence. We’re delighted to announce that Philip Redfern was appointed in September, and has begun rehearsals with the choir in preparation for our Christmas concert programme this year. A little belated perhaps, but you can now read more about Philip here.
