Simply go to the Bright Star page on this website and click the play button – – next to the track you want to hear. Now you can experience for yourself what all the fuss is about!

Praise pours in for ‘Bright Star’

We haven’t had the official launch yet, but already “Bright Star” has had a warm reception from choral directors, composers and arrangers who describe the selection of music as “refreshing” and “a fascinating collection of carols” offering new programming options for Christmas.

Virtuosic

This was the verdict of the Broadway Baby critic who reviewed our Fringe concert on 25th August. In the course of a glowing 4* review, he refers to “a beautiful evening of accomplished music from both the choir and orchestra”, “the skill and dexterity of the choir”, and “the quality [….] that meant that the audience never felt short-changed”.

It’s been a long time coming, but Cadenza are delighted to be able to offer you the opportunity to buy our latest CD, Bright Star, online now!  22 tracks of the best collection of 20th and 21st century Christmas carols, the majority of which with a strong Scottish connection, can be yours for just £10 plus £2 P&P.  The choir is having a party tonight to have our first listen together – we’ll post pictures soon!

Open Rehearsal 2012

“Second to none” line-up of soloists for 2012 Fringe Concert

The soloists for this year’s Fringe concert have been described by Musical Director, Jenny Sumerling, as “second to none“. Soprano Wilma MacDougall is returning for the 3rd time in almost as many years. “We could invite someone else” said Jenny, “but why should we when we have such a wonderful soprano on our doorstep, who we know will give our audience a first-class performance?“. Wilma will be joined by three young rising stars who despite their youth have already attracted outstanding reviews.

Cadenza at the Fringe

CD Update & Charity Concert Season

Cadenza has completed the recording of our new CD, and we’re excited to hear the first cut of the recording (due in the next couple of weeks) while our production team is working hard on the mastering and mixing of the final product. Quite what we’ll all think of listening to Christmas music as the weather is (hopefully) starting to change we’re not sure – but nevertheless it’s something we are all looking forward too.
